"Art is kind of like life. You need to be careful and easygoing. Just take deep breaths. I learned that if you make a mistake, you can just paint over it and move on, or keep it there, as a mark of your history.......Art is educational, very educational, just not in the general definition. It's like one big lesson, but not the kind where you sit and die of boredom.....Every human needs to thrive, because, if you thing about it, up is heavier than down........"
Marvolous Monograms
So, our first project was really complicated. I messed up, big time. My design actually came out okay, except I just made it too simple. We had to draw a monogram using our initials and trace them eight times around with a focal point. I learned that this requires patience. I am not a patient person. Art is kind of like life. You need to be careful and easygoing. Just take deep breaths. I learned that if you make a mistake, you can just paint over it and move on, or keep it there, as a mark of your history. I don't normally like Art, but my mother told me it was a way to help with my social skills and that it would be helpful to relieve some of my stress. She convinced me it was not a waste of my time, and really, it is not. Art is educational, very educational, though not in the most academic sense. It's like one big lesson, but not the kind where you sit and die of boredom. I think that, although it was very difficult for many (as in me), that the monograms were the perfect way to introduce the lesson.
Twistiez Figure
So, our second project was to make a figure out of twistiez wire. This project was all about balance. See, the thing is, I am not good with balance. We had to start with a base, so we twisted the wire in such afashion that we could slip a cardboard head right on. Next, after securing the head, we twisted the wire so there were two arms, and did the wire in the same way as before so we could fit a torso or two. Third, we secured the torso/s and twisted on feet. All that was left to do is balance with Crayola clay feet (which, believe me, is not as easy as it sounds) and color. This project lasted about 2-3 weeks, because it required balance, and to get a perfect balance, you had to be patient. This was a little bit like how a person should balance their life. And, I don't mean, eat 5 veggies before 1 doughnut. Well, yes, a person should do that, actually. What I mean is how a person should "2 positives for every negative". We should all be kind to eachother, and no hatred should swell up inside anyone that's noticeable. We should strive for success, not live in an ugly hole. Every human needs to becareful, though, because, if you thing about it, up is heavier than down.
Insecta Artista
Now, this project was fun. It was my first BIG paper mache project, and we got to use ballons. I like balloons. We papaer mached the balloons about 4 times so it was sturdy and then we glued them all together. Then, we followed these instructions.
