The Fall of Rome
Click for actual poem
One of our very first History projects was to write a poem based on the fall of rome. This was my favorite thing to do, because I love to write, and I love to learn about Rome. We had to write a poem based on the following:
Narrative Poem Instructions'
Lines one - two: introduce the
topic
Lines three - eight: describe the fall of the Roman Empire and the
history of the Byzantine Empire
Lines nine - ten: conclude the poem with
statements about the impact of Rome on society
"AND SHE COULD NOT STAND UP AGAIN"
(Epic Ending Alert: Epic Person Here)
*If you did not understand that ^, you are not worthy of epicness!!!
Just kidding!! (I hope)
Narrative Poem Instructions'
- Make a list of six specific events or problems that led to
the fall of the Roman Empire. - Put them in chronological
order. - Add two events from the history of the Byzantine
Empire. - Use all of these events to create a poem of at least ten
lines about the fall of the Roman Empire. - Your poem may be written in free verse, meaning it
may sound like sentences from a story or it may sound conversational. - Your poem must contain at least one example each of alliteration and rhyme. The
whole poem does not have to rhyme; you must have at least two lines that rhyme
with each other. - Punctuation is flexible; use commas where you want a pause and periods where
you want to end a thought. - Spelling, grammar, and capitalization are not flexible.
Proofread.
