In CORE we read Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind, by Suzanne Fisher Staples. Shabanu is a book about an Islamic girl who has to fight for her freedom, according to the backside of the cover. It's a really good book, and, surprisingly, I like it. Which is weird because I don't like any of the books we read at school, partially instinctually because teachers pick them out. But, Shabanu, well, it's something. Excellent book. I really like it. It really gives an example of how other people live, even in this modern time. I learned that people really struggle. At first I was confused, but now I know that other people's faith leads them to that, and I'm not saying it's their fault or anything, because it's not. It's what they believe in, and I respect it. This book has really taught me how, just because others are different, doesn't mean they are not human beings. I know that that's really random for that book, and that I should already know that, but now, I know what it means. Now, I know.
